# Migrate using Apple Business

> Reassign supervised Macs from a previous MDM to Primo via Apple Business — no manual action or device wipe required.

## Prerequisites

* macOS Sequoia (15) or later on the device
* The Mac must be **ABM-supervised** (purchased through an ABM-linked reseller, or added via Apple Configurator)
* **Administrator access** to Apple Business
* Primo already **connected to Apple Business** ([set this up first](/mdm/zero-touch/zero-touch-macs))

## Migrate the devices

<Steps>
  <Step title="Sign in to Apple Business">
    Go to [business.apple.com](https://business.apple.com/) and sign in.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select devices to migrate">
    Go to **Devices**, then select the Mac(s) you want to reassign.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Reassign to Primo">
    Click **Edit MDM Server** and select your Primo MDM server as the destination. Confirm the assignment.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Remove devices from the previous MDM">
    From your previous MDM console, unenroll or remove the devices. Apple Business does not do this automatically.

      Activation Lock bypass codes escrowed by your previous MDM do not transfer to Primo. Apple recommends receiving a copy of these bypass codes, or having the previous MDM clear Activation Lock on all enrolled devices, before switching ([Apple Deployment Guide](https://support.apple.com/guide/deployment/depf4ab94ef1/web)). Supervised Macs let Primo request a new bypass code after migration, but keeping the old codes protects any device that is wiped or loses supervision during the transition. ## What to expect by macOS version

### macOS Tahoe (26 and later)

The MDM switch is fully transparent — no action required from the employee. The device receives the Primo enrollment profile automatically on its next MDM check-in (typically within a few minutes if online).

### macOS Sequoia (15)

Employees receive a **Remote Management** prompt and must accept the new MDM profile. The migration does not require a device wipe, but does require this one-time approval.
